SME Launches Trade Show for Aerospace / Defense Manufacturers

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers announced a new trade show for the aerospace and defense industries.
AeroDef Manufacturing is scheduled for April 5-7, 2011, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California.

SME noted that in 2008 aerospace manufacturing comprised 2.8% of the nation’s workforce and contributed 1.4% to the U.S. gross domestic product, according to Congressional Research Service.

The exposition will give aerospace and defense manufacturers a forum to display new technology for the industry. AeroDef will include commercial and military aircraft design, development and production.

Key technologies and materials for AeroDef include automation, ceramics, finishing and coatings, micro- and nano-technology, sensors/RFID, assembly and joining, machining and metal fabrication.

The show also will have an educational component.

AeroDef will alternate years with the Westec Advanced Productivity Exposition.
The next Westec show is scheduled for March 27-29, 2012 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Founded in 1932, SME is a source for manufacturing education and networking. Industries include aerospace, defense, medical device, motor vehicles, including motorsports, oil and gas and alternative energy. SME has a network of technical communities and chapters worldwide.
