NEWS BRIEFS

Harry Moser, the founder and president of the Reshoring Initiative will speak to the New England Fastener Distributors Association on bringing manufacturing back to the U.S.

Up to 32″ of snow in Massachusetts beginning October 29 forced NEFDA to postpone the event originally scheduled for November 3 to January 12, 2012, in Sturbridge, MA.

Hundreds of thousands of New England homes and businesses were without power due to limbs and trees falling on electrical lines. Trees still with leaves were weighed down with wet snow in the early winterish storm.

“It is now up to the customers to reevaluate their sourcing decisions and the suppliers to aggressively promote savings from reshoring.” Moser said. He is a 40-year manufacturing industry veteran and retired president of GF AgieCharmilles.

Moser founded the Reshoring Initiative to move jobs back to the U.S.  He was named to Industry Week magazine’s Manufacturing Hall of Fame in 2010.

The Boston Consulting Group predicts the U.S. is expected to experience in the next five years a “manufacturing renaissance as the wage gap with China shrinks.”
