SPS Acquires Italian Firm

SPS Technologies Inc. announced it has acquired certain operating assets of Milan, Italy-based ULMA S.p.A.
Ulma manufactures flat, planetary and cylindrical thread roll dies used in metal forming. Sales for 1999 were approximately $5.2 million.
SPS announced it intends to operate Ulma as part of its precision tool group. The group was formed in 1997 to build a global tool business focusing on precision consumable tools used in metal forming and cutting. Ulma expands the SPS product offering and establishes a presence in continental Europe.
Jenkintown, PA-based SPS had sales of $592.8 million through the first nine months of 1999 and net earnings of $38.6 million.
