Stanley Black & Decker Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Stanley Black & Decker was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index, effective September 19 th, in recognition of the company’s economic, environmental and social performance. Inclusion in the index is a first for the company.

“Inclusion in the NA DJSI is a measure of the success achieved in combining Stanley’s strong operational eco-efficiencies with Black & Decker’s competencies in consumer advocacy and product stewardship, following the merger of the two companies in March of 2010,” the company stated.

“The combined company has since expanded its sustainability focus even further to incorporate compliance protocol elements and customer footprint considerations into new product introduction, develop greater sustainability awareness across its supply chain, and design its first Sustainability Scorecard.”

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices are the first global indices tracking the financial performance of the leading, sustainability-driven companies worldwide.

Stanley Black & Decker dedicated a portion of its 2010 Annual Review as well as its corporate website to highlight its dedication and continued successful progress with its sustainability efforts.
