Stanley Engineered Fastening will shutter its rivet factory in Stanfield, NC, the Stanly News & Press reports. The facility manufactures Avdel product, including rivets, lock bolts and engineered fasteners.
Parent company Stanley Black & Decker is closing the facility “in an attempt to strategically consolidate our worldwide operations into fewer facilities,” Stanley Engineered Fastening operations director Kent Shane wrote in the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification submitted to state officials.
“The facility, located at 614 N.C. Highway 200 South, has produced blind fasteners since 1995, though under the ownership of many different companies,” wrote Chris Miller for the News & Press. “It was initially Avdel Cherry Textron, followed by Acument Global Technologies and Infastech before becoming Stanley Engineered in 2013.”
Stanley Engineered Fastening plans to lay off 81 employees at the 90,000-square-foot facility, which will close in phases beginning in February 2021 and ending in August. Fifty of the employees work in the production department, including 20 people who work as head operators and 13 people who work as final assembly operators, according to the News & Press.
Stanley Engineered Fastening operates 37 plants around the world, including 15 in North America. Web: StanleyBlackandDecker.com
