Stanley Engineered Fastening reversed its decision to close its rivet factory in Stanfield, NC, the Stanly News & Press reports.  The facility manufactures Avdel product, including rivets, lock bolts and engineered fasteners.

“Due to increased customer demand and alignment of our supply network and operations, we have taken another look at our product portfolios and where we make them and made the decision to continue manufacturing operations in Stanfield,” stated Debora Raymond, VP with parent company Stanley Black & Decker.

Director of Operations Kent Shane wrote that the decision “reflects a change and serves as a notice that Stanley Black & Decker has no plan to close the plant.”

Stanley Engineered Fastening announced the closure in November 2020 through a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification submitted to state officials by Shane, who wrote that Stanley Black & Decker was shuttering the facility “in an attempt to strategically consolidate our worldwide operations into fewer facilities.”

The plan would have laid off 81 employees at the 90,000-square-foot facility, including fifty employees in the production department.

The facility has produced blind fasteners since 1995 under the ownership of several companies.  It was initially Avdel Cherry Textron, followed by Acument Global Technologies and Infastech before becoming Stanley Engineered in 2013.

Stanley Engineered Fastening operates 37 plants around the world, including 15 in North America.  Web: StanleyBlackandDecker.com
