Stud Manufacturers Asked To Participate
John Wolz
ASME is working on metric stud standard ASME B18.31, and should complete it during 2001. An inch standard will follow.
Joe Greenslade said he is concerned that there are no stud manufacturers serving on the committee.
The volunteers who work on these do the best they can to create good documents, but out of ignorance bad decisions are sometimes made in the creation of industrial standards, Greenslade said.
Stud manufacturers still have a chance to provide input before this document becomes official, Greenslade noted. If stud producers have any interest in making sure that the final documents are good for the manufacturers as well as the end users, they had better get involved now.
Greenslade suggested stud manufacturers contact the committee chair, Wayne Wilcox. Tel: 703 920-2385.\
