SWD Inc. will open a 26,000 sq ft, $3 million addition to its Illinois metal finishing and fastener sorting plant by December, expanding the SWD facility 195,000 st ft.
President Rick Delawder said expansion provides higher efficiency plus space for more equipment. It includes more warehousing space with an automated racking system for part storage plus office space for centralized shipping, receiving and order entry processing.
SWD is projecting 15% annual growth in sales and will add at least 12 employees.
Delawder said there is increasing demand for highly corrosion resistance, consistent torque and tension properties.
“The automotive lightweighting initiative has pushed the fastener industry to produce smaller, higher strength fasteners,” Delawder told GlobalFastenerNews.com.
SWD added 60,000 sq ft in 2012. Last year SWD introduced a robotic organic coating line.
Founded in 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq ft facility, SWD today has more than 150 employees. SWD is located at 910 S. Stiles Dr., Addison, IL 60101. Tel: 630 543-3003 Web: SWDinc.com
