Taiwan’s fastener export volume grew 0.37% to 131,000 tons in April, Fastener World reports. The average export price increased 1.75% to US$2.90/KG.

In the first four months of 2019, the fastener export volume from Taiwan totaled 535,500 tons, with the total value of US$1.54 billion, according to Fastener World.

“Many fastener manufacturers forecast that the trade war between USA and China will be facing more challenges and in the short term it’ll be a very difficult time for Chinese companies exporting fasteners to USA, so it may be the best timing for Taiwanese fastener companies to enhance their order intake,” according to Fastener World.

In 2018, Taiwan’s fastener export volume rose 5.25% to a record 1.68 million tons and the export value increased 12.75% to US$ 4.85 billion.

The average price increased 7.1% to $ 2.884/KG, according to the statistics of Taiwan Industrial Fasteners Institute (TIFI).

The top fastener export destination was the U.S., which consumed about 41.5% of all the fasteners Taiwan produced in 2018.

The next largest consumer country was Germany, which consumed about 2% more last year than in 2017.
