Taiwan Wire Rod Prices Headed Up

Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation may raise wire rod prices Taiwan$1,200 (US$37.60) to TWD1,500 (US$47.01) for July and August, YEH.com reported.

The recent international price is about TWD27,500 (US$861.90) per ton and China Steel is at TWD 25,700 (US$805.90).

The wire rod price increase was attributed to the cost of raw materials.

Taiwan’s Walsin Lihwas Corp. raised May stainless wire rod prices due to nickel price increases.

Walsin Lihwas’s 300 series increased by TWD 12,000 per ton and 316 extra is TWD 3,000 per ton. The 400 series is increased by TWD 2,000 per ton.

Despite a recent softening of nickel prices, the average monthly price is higher than March.
