Taiwanese Fastener Suppliers Score New Contracts

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) in Kaohsiung announced the signing of “considerable procurement contracts” between local fastener suppliers and foreign buyers, CENS.com reports.
“A total of 41 foreign buyers from different countries of the world, including the big-name Ciser, the largest fastener producer in Latin America, invited by TAITRA and 116 Taiwanese suppliers of fasteners and frozen seafood clustering in Kaohsiung engaged in face-to-face procurement talks, with estimated US$48.58 million of contracts signed on the spot and later,” writes Steve Chuang of CENS.com.

Fasteners reportedly were the most sought-after items among foreign buyers, partly because Kaohsiung is noted for its high fastener producer density. About 80% of Taiwan’s annual fastener production occurs in Kaohsiung.

Taiwan produces about US$4.5 billion of fasteners annually, with 90% exported to the U.S., Europe and Japan, according to Taiwan Industrial Fastener Institute chairman Joe Chen.
