Taiwan’s Overall Fastener Demand Drops

Fastener exports from Taiwan declined 1% to NT$29 billion in the second quarter of 2013, ChinaFastener.Info reports. The average price for fastener exports was NT$78.5/kg — down 3.2%.

“The U.S. and EU remained the two largest consumers of Taiwan’s fasteners,” according to ChinaFastener.Info. “Exports for fasteners from Taiwan to the U.S. increased 2% to 286, 000 tons in Q2.”

However, fastener exports to the EU declined.

“The average price for fastener exports to the U.S. and EU both declined compared with the same period in 2012 with NT$72.7/kg to the U.S. and NT$76.1/kg to EU.”

Taiwan fastener exports are forecast to grow 2% to NT$29.4 billion in the third quarter, up 2%. 

Full-year exports in 2013 are expected to reach NT$114.3 billion — comprising 93% of Taiwan’s annual output value of NT$122.9 billion. ©2013 GlobalFastenerNews.com
