Two fastener companies in Northeast Ohio will benefit from job-creation tax credits approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority, Crain’s Cleveland Business reports.

“The biggest jobs gain expected from proposals approved at the TCA’s monthly meeting is from RMI Titanium, a maker of specialty titanium products for aerospace, industrial and consumer applications that wants to expand in Canton,” writes Dan Shingler for Crain’s.

Part of Pittsburgh’s Howmet Aerospace, RMI was granted a 1.374%, eight-year tax credit, valued at $500,000, to create 108 new jobs with an annual payroll of $5.1 million.

RMI will relocate grinding equipment from other facilities to expand in Canton, where it has said it will invest $4.4 million in new equipment and related construction. It will retain existing jobs representing payroll of $6.9 million on top of the additional positions it’s adding, according to Crain’s.

The TCA also approved a 1.816%, seven-year payroll tax credit for automotive fastener manufacturer Bulten North America in exchange for Bulten’s promise to create 35 new jobs in Streetsboro, representing an annual payroll of $2.7 million, while retaining jobs representing another $1.5 million in annual wages.

Bulten NA will combine operations now in Hudson and Youngstown into a new facility in Streetsboro, with no jobs being lost.
