Tennessee Galvanizing Receives Environmental Award

Tennessee Galvanizing Inc. received the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry award for environmental accomplishments.
Chamber vice president for environmental affairs Wayne Scharber noted Tennessee Galvanizing uses high grade zinc, altered their pickling process to remove sodium hydroxide as a degreaser and installed an aerospol can recycling unit to recover residual paint and sulfuric acid recycling unit eliminating 1,250 tons per year of hazardous waste to be shipped. They now produce ferrous sulfate, which is sold to recycle in animal feed or fertilizer.
