The 13-month 2012 FIN Calendar starts with December 2011

The 2012 FIN Calendar features technology unheard of when the first FIN Calendar was published in 1996: QR Codes.

G.L. Huyett included QR Codes in its July and October ads. Short for “Quick Response”, a QR code is a type of matrix barcode that was first developed for the automotive industry.

G.L. Huyett features the QR code to invite the fastener industry to use their smartphones to scan the code to visit the company’s website.

The 2012 FIN Calendar was designed by Joe Barthlow of Eugene, OR.

Barthlow designed the cover from fasteners in his own life starting with his 1964 Vespa GS 160 motorcycle license plate holder. Other fasteners include an eyelet on his utility trailer, in a barge beam connector on a 1955 post & beam house carport; electrical conduit connector; a Phillips screw in sheet metal at the Knight Arena at the University of Oregon; in an ATM machine; parking sign bolt; luggage rack and fender screw for a bicycle; sign post base; and rusty nut in decking.

In addition to fastener meeting dates, the information pages include background and contacts for fastener associations, technical and related organizations and trade shows worldwide.

There are more than 90 association, educational and technical sessions listed in the 2012 FIN Calendar.

Updates will be posted in the online FIN Calendar at GlobalFastenerNews.com

The 2012 FIN Calendar is sponsored by Brighton-Best International, Nucor Fastener Division, Porteous Fastener Co., International Fasteners, Stelfast Inc., Ken Forging, ND Industries, G.L. Huyett, XL Screw Corporation, INxSQL and Rotor Clip.
