Thompson to Succeed Grigg as SPS CEO
John Wolz
SPS Technologies Inc. announced that president and COO John Thompson will succeed CEO Charles Grigg at the April 30, 2002, annual meeting.
Thompson joined SPS in October 1999, and was elected a director the following April. Prior to joining SPS, Thompson was president and chief executive of BTR, Inc., the U.S. holding company of BTR, Plc.
Grigg will remain as chairman and will continue to be involved in SPS strategic planning and business development activities.
Grigg noted that Thompson had the business experience to be CEO when he joined SPS. “John had successfully managed a diversified, international $4 billion revenue group of manufacturing companies at BTR prior to joining SPS. The planning for the transfer of CEO responsibilities really began when John was hired. John has worked very closely with me for the past two years on all important management issues,” Grigg said. “John is ready for the CEO position, and I am ready to focus on strategic planning and business development activities, which at this point in my career is what I want to do.” 2001 FastenerNews.com
