TriMas Names Allen President of Lamons Gasket
TriMas Corp. promoted Kurt Allen to President of refinery fastener and industrial gasket supplier Lamons Gasket Co. Allen will report directly to TriMas CEO David Wathen.
Allen has more than 25 years of engineering, sales, marketing and management experience, including 11 years at Lamons, where he most recently served as vice president of sales and marketing.
“It is our belief that Lamons has significant growth potential on a global basis,” stated Wathen. “Kurt’s international business experience and leadership will facilitate additional market growth opportunities to support our global customers.”
During his tenure as sales vice president Allen oversaw 15 Lamons global facilities, including opening a facility in Zhangjiagang, China. During 2009, Allen was also instrumental in facility openings in Salt Lake City, UT, and Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
“With the new hub in Rotterdam, Lamons is focused on expanding its European presence,” TriMas stated.
The company recently launched Kammpro capabilities in the UK with the licensing of Specialised Engineering Products Ltd. for better servicing of a large U.K. refinery, where they have a five-year agreement in conjunction with Lamons to supply gaskets and bolts.
Lamons’ Salt Lake facility includes a 1,500 sq ft office area and 6,000 sq ft of production space, where Lamons manufactures and stocks spiral wounds, kammpros, metal clad and soft gaskets as well as stud bolts.
Lamons’ Rotterdam facility is 20,000 sq ft., with capability to manufacture and stocks spiral wounds, kammpros, metal clad and soft gaskets, and stud bolts.
Houston, TX-based Lamons is one of the largest gasket and bolt suppliers in the world, with sales and service facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada, along with distribution centers around the world.
Based in Bloomfield Hills, MI, TriMas owns Monogram Aerospace Fasteners as part of its Aerospace and Defense segment, which reported sales declined 14% to $56.53 million during the first nine months 2009, with operating profit dipping 17% to $18.4 million.
