USITC: Threaded Rod From Thailand Does Not Injure U.S. Industry
The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) determined that a U.S. industry is not materially injured or threatened with material injury by steel threaded rod imports from Thailand that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are sold in the U.S. at less than fair value.
As a result of the USITC’s negative determination, no antidumping duty order will be issued on imports of this product from Thailand, which exported $10.5 million worth of steel threaded rod to the U.S. last year.
The USITC described the U.S. industry as having five threaded rod manufacturers with facilities in Alabama, California, Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Petitioners were All America Threaded Products Inc., Denver, CO; Bay Standard Manufacturing Inc., Brentwood, CA; and Vulcan Threaded Products Inc., Pelham, AL.
The USITC initiated a preliminary investigation in June, 2013.
The leading sources of threaded rod during 2013 were China, India ($14.2 million), and Thailand ($10.5 million).
The Commission’s public report Steel Threaded Rod from Thailand (Investigation No. 731-TA- 1214 (Final), USITC Publication 4462, May 2014) will contain the views of the Commissioners and information developed during the investigation.
The report will be available after May 22, 2014. After that date, it may be accessed on the USITC website at: http://pubapps.usitc.gov/applications/publogs/qry_publication_loglist.asp. Copies also may be requested after that date by emailing pubrequest@usitc.gov, calling 202-205-2000, or writing to the Office of the Secretary, U.S. International Trade Commission, 500 E Street SW, Washington, DC 20436.
