Jaime Vigil is the new president and CEO of Republic Engineered Products Inc. Vigil succeeds Joseph Lapinsky.

With steel producer Republic debt free as of earlier this year, Lapinsky “decided this is a good time for me to step aside and pursue other interests.” Vigil has been an executive adviser since Republic was acquired in 2005 by Mexico City-based steel producer Industrias CH, S.A. de C.V. Previously he was CEO of ICH-subsidiary Pytsa Industrial S.A. de C.V.

Republic Engineered Products Inc. was established in 2003 with the purchase of operating assets from Republic Engineered Products, LLC. Republic traces its roots to the 1886 establishment of Berger Manufacturing Co. in Canton, Ohio, which was later part of the original Republic Steel Corp.
