Western & Los Angeles Boards Propose Merger

Jason Sandefur

The boards of the Western Association of Fastener Distributors and Los Angeles Fastener Association have proposed a merger. A joint letter to members states that business consolidations and closures have decreased memberships. “If you look at the big picture, we both need this to survive,” LAFA president Steve Pettyjohn told FIN. WAFD serves business owners and executives while LAFA caters to employees, though about 20% belong to both organizations. The new association, which has not been named, would continue providing all current programs to its 170 member companies. In addition, Pettyjohn said it will increase member exposure to all facets of the fastener industry. A member vote on the proposal is expected by Thanksgiving.
