Women in the Fastener Industry honored Simmi Sakhuja, Tracey Lumia, John Wolz and John Radel with its 2019 awards.

The Woman of the Year award for 2019 goes to Simmi Sakhuja of Stelfast, a division of LindFast Corp. The award recognizes leadership and success in the fastener industry. Recipients have long and distinguished record of advocacy for the professional advancement of women.

Tracey Lumia of Distributor’s Link Magazine won the Woman in Business award for 2019. The award goes to a champion and advocate who contributes and supports her own organization by sharing knowledge, ideas, insights and strength. She is a woman who is dedicated to empowering more women to achieve full potential in all aspects of life.

John Wolz of Fastener Industry News / GlobalFastenerNews.com was honored with the Man Up award.

WIFI noted Simmi, Lumia and Wolz supported WIFI from the beginning in 2009 and helped build the organization. 

“They believed in the organization and set the foundation on what WIFI is today,” WIFI said.

John Radel, owner / CEO of Solution Industries, was named Man Up for bringing brothers into the organization and “established a movement of working together regardless of gender.”

WIFI’s Man Up awards go to individual males or companies that demonstrated commitment to supporting women and the WIFI organization. The recipient is a partner that provides tools and resources that empower the women in their organization or industry.

WIFI scholarship winners for 2019:

  • Sarah Evans, Brighton-Best International, won the Ann Bisgyer Wolz Scholarship, which funds for classes leading to the Fastener Training Institute’s Certified Training Specialist.
  • Jeana Sanders of Dan-Loc Group won the Joanne Goodman Sherman Scholarship for online fastener training pertinent to her role in the industry.
  • Krista Osborne of Brighton-Best won the Edith Cameron Scholarship providing travel and hotel accommodations to attend the International Fastener Expo set for September 17-19, 2019, in Las Vegas.

WIFI reports 110 members. Rosa Hearn of Brighton-Best is chairwoman and Carrie Whitworth of EDSCO Fasteners is president.
