NEWS BRIEFS

As of February 16, show management listed 41 exhibiting companies reserving 59 booths for the May 25-26, 2010, National Industrial Fastener Show/East in Columbus, OH.

The first NIFS – also held in Columbus – drew 90 exhibiting companies totaling 103 booths and some 1,500 attendees in 1981.

The pace of booth sales for 2010 is below recent years. The last East show was held in 2008 and at the end of December 2007 NIFS reported 115 booths reserved. By show time there were 164 booths and it was the second smallest NIFS/East of the decade.

At the end of 2006 NIFS there were 133 booths booked for the 2007 show in Atlanta and by show time there were 221 booths.

Since 2000 NIFS/East has averaged 242 booths. The Columbus record was 653 booths in 1996.

The 2009 NIFS/East was cancelled.

In January show manager Susan Hurley predicted the show would reach 100 booths.

The mid-February booth total for 2010 is down one booth from mid-January.

The 2010 event will be NIFS’ 29th East show in 30 years.
