Würth Group Worldwide Sales Up 15.1%
Würth Group worldwide sales increased 15.1% to EUR 4.78 billion (US$6.9b) for the first half of 2011.
Driving the record sales were Würth’s German companies.
Robert Friedmann, chairman of Würth’s central managing board, added that second quarter sales grew at a double-digit pace. “An important adjusting lever for this success is our consistent orientation towards sales and the activities involved,” Friedmann said. “We plan to grow by double-digit
figures also by the end of the business year.”
• Würth’s strongest growth was in the German companies of the Würth Group. Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, the parent company, Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG and the Würth Elektronik Group.
Compared to the first half of 2010, the German companies increased their sales volume by 17.3% to EUR 2.1 billion (US$3.01b).
The companies outside Germany grew by 13.4% and generated sales of EUR 2.7 billion (US$3.9b).
• Operating results of the Würth Group that came to EUR 245 million (US$351.4m) in the first half of 2011 – up from EUR 196 million (US$281.5m) for the same period of 2010.
• This summer the logistics center of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG in Künzelsau-Gaisbach, Germany, expansion will start.
Würth Industrie Service GmbH & Co. KG will open an expansion of its European logistics center in Bad Mergentheim.
“These investments will create the basis that is needed to keep the performance promise that we have made to our customers.” Friedmann said. “We can report an excellent business development exactly in Germany. Therefore, it is necessary to make investments into the future.”
• Würth Group employment grew 4.8% or 3,011 to 65,444 employees. A total of 31,761 work in sales. In Germany, the Würth Group has a total of 18,399 employees.
