NEWS BRIEFS
The Wurth Group will reduce work hours 15% beginning April 1, 2009, for 1,250 of its 5,000 German employees.
The German News Digest reported the short-time weeks affects the logistics division and parts of the administration.
Hours have not been cut for the back office staff but the employees are waiving 5% of their salaries.
Adolf Wurth GmbH chairman Norbert Heckmann said the short-time work reflects a shrinkage of business due to the economy.
The Wurth Group reported sales of EUR 4.56 billion (US$7.3 billion) during the first six months of 2008.
