Wyandotte Industries has completed 50 years in business.
Founded in 1959 by Jerry J. Szpondowski and Evelyn Alexander, the company manufactures special nuts, screw machine parts and specialty fasteners.
Today the founder’s son – who joined the company in 1962 – Jerry L. Szpondowski Sr., owns the business. His son, also Jerry, is sales manager; daughter Christine works in human resources and accreditation; daughter Lori, works in quality control; and nephew Wes is plant manager.
Szpondowski’s father worked fulltime at a previous job while handling the machining parttime when he founded the company.
Today Wyandotte has 51 employees. Customers include American Axle & Manufacturing, TRW Automotive and International Truck & Engine Corp. automotive, construction and agricultural equipment, heavy-duty on- and off-road vehicles, air frame and aircraft parts, diesel engines and hydraulic cylinder applications.
The Wyandotte machine shop is equipped with six- and eight-spindle Acme-Gridley screw and Davenport machines. The equipment can produce parts out of bar stock in a range of sizes, from 11/32-inch hex to 4-inch hex, as well as square and round shapes, using carbon and alloy steel, stainless steel, brass, aluminum, silicon and bronze.
