PrimeSource Building Products co-CEO Mona Zinman will give the Associate State-of-the-Industry speech and “Fox Business News” anchor Stuart Varney will give the keynote address at the 32nd annual Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association convention.

As STAFDA president, Rick Peterson of Seattle-based All-West Fasteners Inc. will give the distributor State-of-the-Industry address during the November 9-11, 2008, convention in Denver.

Zinman’s career began in 1967 at age 15 working for Wilmod Co., a small importer/distributor of nails. She worked her way through Brooklyn College and went fulltime upon graduating Phi Beta Kappa. She married owner Norman Zinman and became sole owner upon his death in 1982. In 1984 Wilmod was acquired by Itochu Building Products. Over the next 14 years in purchasing, credit, personnel and operations roles. In 1998 Itochu acquired PrimeSource and Zinman was promoted to president of Itochu Building Products and executive vice president of PrimeSource. She became co-CEO of PrimeSource with Ken Fishbein in 2007.
Zinman’s main focus has been on purchasing. She has traveled worldwide visiting factories and developing vendor partners, adding suppliers to PrimeSource’s GripRite brands.
Zinman recently testified at Department of Commerce hearings on the dumping duty investigation on nails from China and the United Arab Emirates.

Varney, speaking one week after the U.S. election, will speak on “21st Century America: A New Day in Politics, Culture and Business.” Varney, educated at the London School of Economics, will address domestic and global economic trends. Before Fox, Varney was host of CNBC’s Wall Street Journal Editorial Board and a founding member of CNN’s business team. He won a Peabody Award for coverage of the 1987 stock market crash.
